YashodA realises that KaNNan is not an ordinary child but God Himself. Moreover, KaNNan begins to walk and outgrow, engaging in mischievous deeds. So, she decides to wean her baby KrishNa from breast feed. (1)

To every one's shock, you once drank milk from the breasts of the devil pootanA who came disguised as a mother having a lightning like waist. You sucked her life and killed her. 225. You swallowed the kummAyam* with butter as side dish; You also turned over the curd pots and ate them all. Then you went out, killing the asuras disguised as maruda trees and came back. Oh my dear mAyan, nambi! People say that you are my son. But I know who you are, and so I am afraid to nurse you. unnai aRindu koNDEn, unakku anjuvan ammam taravE! (kummAyam is a sweet dish made with powderd udad dal or moong dAl, jaggery and ghee). (3)

226. You fascinate the beautiful young cowherd girls whose eyes are decorated with kohl/collyrium. You follow them and pull their saree pleats. Then you do many mischievous things and tell lies. 227. You gobble the butter and the yogurt that the cowherd women churn three times a day. You cause the pots held by the cowherd on their shoulders to fall, then you drink all the yogurt. After all this you cry for my milk intermittently as if this was all not enough. Oh my Lord, I know who you are, and so I am afraid to nurse you. unnai aRindu koNDEn, unakku anjuvan ammam taravE! 228. You spotted vatsAsuran, who came as a calf and refused to eat the rich paddy, which was as tall as sugarcane. You then threw him upon the vilva tree and killed him, while the fruits fell. You then urged a young girl with soft bee like curly hair to fall in love with you. Dear child, I know who you are and so I am afraid to nurse you. unnai aRindu koNDEn, unakku anjuvan ammam taravE! 229. Oh KaNNA, You enter an isolated grove and play the flute melodiously with your mouth, enticing the cowherd girls with curly tresses.  They surround you, engrossed in your music. O dear child, they are all complaining about you. My only fault is that I have given birth to you. 230. Even if you keep quiet without doing any mischief, people are not ready to believe it.  You lure the cowherd girls, embrace and enjoy them, and do things which cannot be revealed outside. They blame me, I can listen to them no more. Oh bull of Nanda, I know who you are and so I am afraid to nurse you. unnai aRindu koNDEn, unakku anjuvan ammam taravE! (8)

231. The mothers go to sell buttermilk, the fathers go behind the cows to graze them, but you go behind the young village girls. You do things to please even those who don't like you. My dear child. 232. You entered into a blooming garden with a young girl whose hair was decked with a bunch of flowers and a pearl chain. You were with her all night and returned home only after 21 nAzhikas had passed (after the third part of the night). Due to this, people are gossiping many things about you. But I know that you are not an ordinary child, You are God and so I am afraid to nurse you. unnai aRindu koNDEn, unakku anjuvan ammam taravE! (10)

233. Puduvai Mannan, BhattarpirAn, the one praised by the whole earth, composed these pAsurams describing why the kind YashodhA wanted to wean her baby KrishNa. Those who recite these musical verses will become devotees of HRuSheekEsha. (11)

Oh! Why did I do such a thing as to send my son away to places where hunters roam about with axes! (2)

236. I did not want my golden hued boy to make himself dirty and get covered in dust, by going after these young girls wearing waistband (mekhalai) made of gems. But I let my sapphire coloured (manivaNNan) son go behind the calves, into the dense forests. Alas! What have I done! (3)

237. KaNNA, you go after these girls with dark, curly locks, and tease them. And they are constantly complaining. I sent you, who are beyond one's reckoning (eNNarku ariyAnai) and one who is a spectacle to behold (kaNNirku iniyAnai) to the dense forest, behind the calves! What a terrible thing I have done! (4)

238. I didn't want Him to go and flirt with the AyarpADi girls. But what a sin I have done, by sending my divine Lord into the forest, after the calves, where hunters roam with their bows! (5)

239. Oh! What have I done! I sent my child into the forest, behind the calves, where elephants roam! I did this to stop him from gulping down loads of butter down His throat (midaRu), and running around doing all sorts of mischief (padiRu) in AyarpADi. (6)

240. I sent the Lord of GaruDa, after the calves, into the dry, blazing, dense forest, where cacti (kaLLi) grow. I did not want the girls with slender waists, to complain about this naughty boy, who created ruckus with his friends.  What a sin I have done! (7)

243. These tamizh verses were written by bhaTTarpirAn of Sreevilliputtoor having golden domes. Those who sing these verses describing the laments of YashodA, for having sent her darling son into the forest behind the calves will never encounter grief. (10)

244. Oh beautiful women! Come and see the beautiful form of the ocean coloured Lord { kaDal vaNNan}! The young KaNNan is adorned with earrings made of cloth (seelai kudambai) in one ear and a type of lily [tonRi poo] on the other! With a beautifully draped kuch and peetAmbaram, and a pearl chain, He is coming behind the cattle. I am the only one on the earth with a precious son like Him! (1)

Early morning, I woke you up, dressed you, gave very little food and sent you to graze the calves. No woman would be hard hearted like me. Oh little one [kuTTan]! Give me a kiss. (2)

The beloved of nappinai [nappinai manAlA]! Your body is full of dust. I have kept everything ready for you to bathe. Come soon to have food. Your father is waiting to have food with you. (3)

You forgot to take the umbrella, sandals and flute I had bought for you. Running behind the calves, your little lotus feet must have developed blisters due to the hot sun. Come, Dear child! [em pirAn] Your eyes are red and tired. (4)

248.Oh little lion of the cowherd clan [SiRRAyar singamE]!, Enemies shiver when you blow the pAnchajanyam! The beloved of seetA [sItai manAlA]! Oh tirumAl! The little one with beautiful eyes [shengaN mAlE]! You left a small cloth and a small sword on the bed and went to graze the cows. Now, I can see you returning with the cowherds and cattle. (5)

249. Oh beautiful Lord [azhagA]! One who is holding the shining sudarshana chakra! I feared my life when you jumped into the pond to fight the poisonous snake. Why did you cause trouble to my stomach? You have no fear. It seems you wish to make Kamsa happy. Oh Lord, one who has colour of kAyam flowers! [ kAyam poo vaNNam]. (6)

250. Oh Lord, the one who took the form of boar [panRiyum], fish [meenamum] and tortoise [Amaiyum]! Oh dark coloured one, like the ocean and earth [ pAr kaDal vaNNA]! When the cows were grazing, an asura disguised as a calf, came to kill You. With your little hands, you threw him on the viLAm tree - wood apple [vilangAy] and killed him. Similar will be the death of those who do evil to my son. (7)

251. kEshavA! I hear strange things about you. It seems the cowherds had kept rice, vegetables and yoghurt to offer to Indra dEva [kOvalar indiranukku] and You mixed all the three foods and ate them! I don't possess enough assets to feed you! It has become impossible to handle you everyday. Oh vAsudevA! Your fame is faultless but I am now scared of you. (8)

252. Oh, the Lord who holds the white conch! [veNN sangu uDaiyAy]! The seventh day from today is the auspicious day of shravaNam star. I invited women who will sing melodiously for you, planted bean seeds to sprout, to bless you and pray for your long life. To celebrate this day, I have prepared rice and curry. Oh dear child! Don't go to graze the calves tomorrow. Come! I will dress you up.(9)

253. Vishnuchitta, the chief of Puduvai! [Srivilliputtoor] where faultless people live, has described the outpourings of the good hearted YashOdA [nal AaychI]!, and her happiness when her son returns from grazing.  Those who sing these pAsurams will attain the holy feet of the ocean colored Lord (kaDal vaNNan). 3.4 Tired of complaining, the yAdava girls finally fall in love with krishNa’s divine and graceful beauty notwithstanding his mischiefs.

254. KrishNa returns home with his friends after grazing. Umbrellas made of peacock feathers (tazhai) and palm leaves (tongal) are seen. Musical instruments like mRudangam (tannumai), a long-tubed trumpet (ekkam, tiruchinnam), another kind of drum (mattali) are heard. Leading them is KrishNa playing his flute decorated with a peacock feather that hangs in the end. The scene looks like a large advancing rain cloud. Some gopikAs peep out of their windows, some wait at their doors, hearts craving for him, they even forget their dinner. (1)

One gOpikA says: He wears a bright, clean, soft dhoti as thin as the leaf of a karpaga creeper and a pleated cloth around the waist and a sword tucked into it which looks a lizard clinging on to the wall. Wearing fragrant forest flowers like mullai (arabian jasmine) and vEngai (kino flower), He returns with his cowherd friends. If you go and stand in front of Him, out of longing you will become so thin  that your bangles will fall from your hands. (2)

256. Another gOpikA says: His friends are wearing upper garments, carrying swords, little arrows and staffs made of flowers. The tired KrishNa places one elbow on one friend’s shoulder and holds the conch in the other hand. My daughter went near him to see the beauty of the tired KaNNan who has come back after a busy day. Just for this, people are gossiping that they both have some connection.(3)

257. Another gOpi says: My unequalled KaNNan lifted the gOvardhana hill to protect the cowherds. The one with such powers, plays the flute all day long to graze the cows. He comes back home with all his friends. Oh! My young dame. He is so beautiful, you know? One girl met Him, and her bangles fell off, for the other her garment loosened. Don’t wait to see Him. Even I cannot control my feelings. (4)

The tribal women with big rounded eyes and motherly care were housed in these mountains and took care of the baby deer by feeding milk through cotton tips. Such victorious mountain is the 'GOVARDHANA'. (1)

This victorious mountain houses the merciful flock of clouds which go to the mouth of the ocean, engulf and suck the waters and go up the mountain and shower rains everywhere. (4)

This victorious mountain expands everywhere. It's beautiful waterfalls shine like strings of gems and pearls, and appear like a coat for KrishNa (kuppAyam - coat or a cloak). (6)

KaNNan then flew on GaruDa, the embodiment of Veda, plucked the karpaga vRuksha (pArijAta tree) itself from Indra's garden and planted it in SatyabhAmA's garden. 315. KrishNa kicked ShakaTAsura who came disguised as a cart. He is the one who pushed down the maruda trees when he came dragging the mortar to which he was tied up. While returning to Ayodhya, the mahA tapasvi ParasurAmA [arun tavattOn] stopped rAma. RAma fought with him, broke his bow and destroyed his tapas. This is a proof. [Or aDayALam] (1)

320. Once, prompted by the words of Mantara, the large hearted queen Kaikeyi [kaikEsi], asked for the two boons promised by King Dasharatha, who gave it with a sorrowful heart. She called for rAma and said, "Hey dear son of this dynasty [kula kumArA], leave for the forest on an exile". RAma left for the forest [ danDakAranya] with LakshmaNa. This is one more proof [Or aDayALam]. (3)

322. My humble request, Oh Vaidehi, one who has beautiful eyes as a doe, speech as sweet as milk [pAl mozhiyAy] ! During your exile in the danDakAraNyA, you walked along stony paths. You stayed in ChitrakooTam covered with mountain slopes, beautiful groves and swarming bees. At that time, the good natured Bharata [bharata nambi] fell at the feet of RAma to return to ayOdhyA. Isn't this a proof? [Or aDayALam]. (5)

323. One day in ChitrakooTam, while the Lord was lying on your lap, a small petty crow pricked your breast. Angry RAma sent an astra [athiramE kondu yeriya] towards it. The scared crow ran to all worlds asking for help but it was futile. He came back and fell at the feet of RAma saying, "Oh Clever One! [vittaganE iramAvO]! You are my refuge [nin ubhayam]. Being an astram, it pricked one eye of the crow. This is one more proof. [Or aDayALam] (6)

324. Oh, one with a waist as slender as lightning [min otta nuN iDaiyAy]! Please listen to this true slave ! One day, while in PanchavaTi, you asked the Lord to get the beautiful golden deer wandering in front of you. RAma took his bow and ran behind it. Later hearing Rama calling, thinking his dear brother was in trouble,  LakshmaNa left you alone and went in search of RAma. This is a proof again [Or aDayALam]. (7)

325. Vaidehi! Hair as black as kohl with beautiful flowers! While planning for your search, along with Sugreeva, the king of monkeys [vAnara kOn], Rama, King of Ayodhya [ayOdiyar kOn], shared several incidents [ happy and sad] of his life with him. Hence I could narrate some of them to you. See! I have the Lord’s finger ring. Hanuman gives the ring to SeetA. (8)

SeetAdevi is overwhelmed on seeing the finger ring of her dear Lord, who broke the bow in the court of the great king Janaka who is praised in all directions [tikku niRai pugazhAlan]!, She recalls that day when RAma married her. She tells Hanuman, 'This is a marvellous sign. [okkumAl aDayALam]’. Saying this she places the ring on her head with respect. (9)
