AzhvAr describes the impact of the divine vision of Periya PerumAL reclining majestically on AdisEshan, in these verses.

Seeing my Lord RanganAtha, reclining gracefully on AdisEshan in yOganidrA,  I helplessly experience my body melting away in my emotions. What can I do about it Oh people of the world? Here, He is, coloured like the deep sea, reclining with His tirumuDi to the west( kuDa tisai), His holy feet, tirupAdam to the east, (kuNa tisai), His back to the north (vaDa tisai) and facing the south, where Lanka, His devotee Vibheeshana's kingdom,  is situated, thereby showering His benevolence on all directions.  (19)

AzhvAr describes perumAl's beauty and says one should not lose the experience of having His darshan.

In this temple (arangam) which is surrounded by the perennial river Cauvery (pAyum neer), dwells arangan,  reclining on the AdisEshan . On this wonderous perumAl's (mAyanAr) broad chest, resides Mahalakshmi (tiru). Can the bhakthas afford to miss (alagal AmE) experiencing the darshan of the Lord with the emerald coloured tirumEni, valiant shoulders, pure lotus like eyes, red lips(thuvar idhazh), coral coloured mouth, decorated crown and the radiating glow (tEsu) that emanates from Him! (20)

AzhvAr calls to his wandering mind and asks...

Can you perform service with total commitment to azhagiya manavALan, who has coral coloured lips? arangan is beauty personified (aNiyinAr) and is like the precious sapphire gem (maNiyinAr), reclining in yOganidrA,  in the temple which is made of pure gold (sempOn)and is equivalent to the magnificent mount mEru ( aruvarai). Can anyone ever realise His glory by merely sitting in meditation (ninaikkalAmE)?, AzhvAr asks his mind which has been straying away( thollai nenju) from bhagavat vishayam from time immemorial.  (21)

But for the descriptions given by the vEdas,  conveyed to us by the gnAnis ( pEsaRRE pEsal allAl), we cannot dream of knowing about bhagavAn's glory. If not for the peerless seers(Asu aRRa), we cannot think of knowing about His virtues.  We can only yearn to pay obeisance to the Lord who dwells in the hearts of the blemishless seers (mAsaRRa) and spend the rest of our lives. Oh unintelligent mind (pEdai nenju), tell me, do you still think you can compose poetry and sing His praise? (pEsattAn Avadu unDO)? (22)

Our Swami arangan, reclines gracefully in the middle of the river Cauvery,  which is holier than the sacred Ganges. Tiruvarangam is full of beautiful orchards and  gardens (poompozhil arangam), which is nourished by the bountiful waters of the Cauvery. Here, sarvEshwaran, who showers His love on us is residing. After seeing His amazing reclining tirukOlam ( kidanda Or kidakkai), how can I survive henceforth without having His darshan? I remain stupefied (yEzhaiyEn) and dumbstruck at His sight!  (23)

AzhvAr once again experiences pangs and reprimands his heart for its deceitful nature.

In tiruvarangam,  there are flourishing gardens made fertile by the flooding waters( viri pOzhil) of Cauvery. The Lord with lotus- like face, resides here, capturing the heart of His devotees. AzhvAr tells himself, 'Even after seeing Him, your heart (uLLam) remains unmoved like a stone, failing to realise that He is the unparalleled Lord! And you, with your superfluous (kaLLamE) bhakti (kAdal) ,continue to live your life full of deception (kaLLamE  kazhikkindrAyE)' .  (24)

AzhvAr feels helplessly lost and is certain that unless Periya PerumAL Himself decides to shower His benevolence,  he, with all his vulnerabilities,  by his own effort,  can never aspire to win His karuNai.

Oh rangA! I have failed to live up to the standards of bathing and performing yagnas with the three agnis, as is wont of austere brAhmaNas. I cannot claim to to have total bhakthi for You. Oh Lord of peerless keerti! What quality do I have that I can boast of (kaLippadhu en)? Such being the case, I cry out to You, the sea coloured Lord! Only You should shower Your blessings and uplift me!  (25)

AzhvAr lists out his imperfections and feels miserable for having taken this futile birth.

Oh Lord! On several occasions, I have failed to bring flowers to worship Your Divine feet and sing Your tiruguNams with sweet, flawless words. I have never prayed with whole hearted love. I do not have any quality to deserve Your compassion. Alas! Why was I ever born?! (26)

AzhvAr bemoans at his purposeless existence.

While the vAnaras lifted and brought the rocks and mountains,  the humble (salam illA) squirrels dipped in the ocean and collected the sand that stuck to their bodies and helped build the bridge across the raging ocean. I have not performed any such kaikaryam, but remained like a stone hearted tree, full of conceit. I am wasting my priceless birth as human and not even whole heartedly worshipping You, my Lord arangan! Alas! What a futile janma?  (27)
